West Elsdon
Originally consisting of low-lying wetlands, the neighborhood now recognized as West Elsdon experienced slow development during the first half of the 20th century. However, its fortunes changed dramatically after the 1950s, thanks to the emergence of nearby industrial zones and the growth of Midway Airport. What was once a quiet and somewhat remote settlement transformed into a comfortable and highly sought-after community within Chicago. Today, West Elsdon is celebrated for its well-maintained bungalows, neatly kept lawns, and increasing diversity among its residents. The neighborhood also boasts a range of schools and public parks, which contribute to its cultural vibrancy. Along Pulaski Road, a substantial commercial corridor provides residents with a variety of shopping and dining options, including the beloved Chicago staple, Giordano's Pizza. In terms of nightlife, West Elsdon tends to be on the quieter side, with just a few neighborhood watering holes providing evening entertainment.
