New City is one of the 77 neighborhoods in Chicago, situated in the South Side district on the city's southwest side. Within its boundaries, you can find the neighborhoods of Canaryville and Back of the Yards.

Historically, this area was renowned for housing the Union Stock Yards, which operated until its closure in 1971, and the International Amphitheatre, which was eventually demolished in 1999.
