Austin is one of the 77 community areas within the city of Chicago. Situated on the West Side, it ranks as the third most populous community area, trailing only the Near North Side and Lake View. In terms of geographical size, it is the second largest, with South Deering being the largest. To the east, Austin is bordered by the Belt Railway, located just east of Cicero Avenue. Its northern boundary aligns with the Milwaukee District / West Line. The southernmost border stretches from the Belt Railway to Austin Boulevard, encompassing Roosevelt Road. The northernmost section, situated north of North Avenue, extends westward to Harlem Avenue, sharing a boundary with Elmwood Park. Additionally, Austin shares its borders with the suburbs of Cicero and Oak Park.
